Cruising season, that is!
Hurricane season ends ‘officially’ by November 1. So with about a week to go in October, we… and the numerous other cruising couples we know, scattered all over the States and the world… made the happy migration back to our boats. Torrential rains and unbearable heat and humidity have vanished without a trace, leaving us with the sunny blue skies and low-80’s temps we love.
We had left our boat in great condition, a bit higher in the water by virtue of the piles of useless junk we threw away or brought with us to leave in our little storage unit in the States. We were thrilled to find Pax Nautica on our return gleaming and fresh both outside and in. Other than the dishwasher having slipped inexplicably into a coma, all systems hummed to life without much complaint.
Stan devoted most of this past week to scheduled maintenance and overseeing some work on our electronics and interior teak, while I focused on unpacking and stowing all the stuff we brought with us from the States… most of which will turn out to be piles of useless junk.
So, our water line is back to what it was, but life is good.
This season’s cruise plan will take us from our current location in Banderas Bay…
… south to our old stomping grounds of Barra de Navidad, where Stan’s brother Steve and sister-in-law Liz will visit us in early December. Then further south to Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa for Christmas. Val’s friend Karen and her boyfriend Jason will pay a visit, followed by Stan’s daughter Kristy and her boyfriend Josh.
Sometime around the end of January or so, we plan to leave that area and continue on to Central America, visiting Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. By early May we hope to arrive in Costa Rica.
