There’s a great new review of a Bering Yachts 55′ Steel Trawler by Judy Waldman and I think I’m in love!
Part of the reason that the Bering 55 trawler is quickly becoming one of my favorite trawlers is the enormous deck space up top. A lack of adequate outdoor deck space is one of my main complaints about Nordhavn and Kadey Krogen trawlers. But I can easily see myself cruising lower latitudes in warm weather enjoying the beautiful decks of this Bering 55 trawler.
Other features that I like about the Bering 55 trawler include:
- Foredeck seating for calm days
- An aft deck table for alfresco dining
- Split-level setup inside
- LED lighting
As you may be able to tell, I enjoy outdoor space on a trawler. I can’t say enough about the aft deck table… I can see many great nights being spent in a remote anchorage somewhere just hanging out with friends at that back table – I love it. It’s also something that I think Nordhavn should eventually incorporate into their designs. However, many true trawler fans argue that the cockpit area on Nordhavn trawlers is seldom used, so why bother?
Judy Waldman’s previous review of the Sea Spirit Passagemaker 60 made me dream of a Sea Spirit. Now she has me dreaming of a Bering 55 trawler and I think you will be doing the same too. Check it out.
