A bald eagle landed on the thin ice this morning for breakfast,

Then he perched in the tallest branch on the bay – a lot of mist prevented me from gettin good pictures….

So much more waterfowl landing in the bay this year. They spend all day from late morning grazing on the Sheffield Greens golf course, and as the coyotes and wolves start moving about on the course near sundown, they take flight in huge groups to the water. Taking advantage of 12º C overnight temps (yes, twelve celsius), this morning we are doing the winter lay-up chores: main and generator lubeoil & filter change, primary fuel separators and winterizing the heat exchangers’ raw-water sides. Dropping to 0º C by the end of the day and colder days are in the forecast….

Today I completed the annual reports I do on some of our police and fire, first responders’ waterborne assets.
These are usually left for the last minute before our lakes become icebound and it means the end of my work season for another year.
